Customer Reviews

Does Extractford have customer reviews for kitchen extraction work?

Not yet. The company is new and its review record starts at zero, which this page says plainly rather than filling the space with something borrowed. Reviews will be published here as the jobs complete, each one naming the trade, the town and the month, and the page carries no star rating until there are reviews of ours to average.

This company has no customer reviews yet. That is the short answer, and the rest of this page is what we think is worth reading instead, because a review record is the easiest thing on a trade website to imply and the hardest for a customer to check.

Why the page says zero rather than something

There are three ordinary ways a new contractor fills this space, and we are not using any of them.

The first is to publish testimonials with initials and a town attached. Nobody can check those, which is precisely why they are the easiest kind to write.

The second is to average work from a different trade so the number exists. A score earned plastering or fitting bathrooms says something about how a business treats its customers and nothing about whether anybody has opened your duct run.

The third is to put review markup in the page so a star rating appears in the Google result. Rating markup is only permitted to describe reviews of the business the page is about, so doing that here would put a rating in front of you that describes nobody who would attend your kitchen. There is none on this page, and there will not be until there are reviews of our own work to average.

What will be published here, and when

As extraction jobs complete, the reviews they generate will appear on this page with the things that make a review checkable:

  • the trade, so you can tell a 40 cover restaurant from a hotel banqueting kitchen
  • the town, so you can tell whether the engineer was local to that job
  • the month it happened
  • what the work actually was, in the same words the quotation used

No review will be edited beyond removing a name where the customer asked for that. If a job went badly and the customer says so, that stays up with what we did about it. A page of unbroken praise is the shape a review page takes when somebody is choosing which ones to publish.

How to read an extraction contractor’s reviews anywhere

This is the part worth taking to the next contractor’s website rather than leaving on ours. Grease cleaning is close to impossible for a customer to inspect, because the evidence is inside a duct on a roof. That makes reviews the main thing buyers rely on, and it makes them the main thing worth faking.

Four things separate a review written by somebody who had the work done from one written by somebody who did not.

It names the part of the system that gets skipped. The plenum behind the filters, the horizontal duct run, the fan housing itself. A customer who was shown those knows the words. A generic review never mentions them because whoever wrote it never went up the ladder.

It mentions paperwork by name. A grease cleaning job that was done properly ends in a report with before and after photographs, the sections cleaned, and, crucially, the sections that could not be reached and why. Customers remember receiving that. They also remember not receiving it.

It survives being specific about scale. “Great service, highly recommended” fits any trade in the country. “They did the extract over our two fryers and the char grill on a Sunday so we did not close” fits one kitchen.

The dates are spread out. Nine reviews inside one week, then nothing for a year, is a pattern that describes a campaign rather than a workload.

What to ask for instead of a review

If you are choosing a contractor this week, three requests will tell you more than any review page, including this one.

Ask for a redacted copy of a recent report from a kitchen roughly the size of yours. It takes a minute to send and it shows you the standard of the record you will be given.

Ask what happens to the sections they cannot reach. Every system has some. A contractor who says there are none has either not looked or is not going to tell you.

Ask to speak to a customer with a comparable layout. We will arrange that where the customer has agreed to it, and a contractor with nothing to show will explain why it is not possible.

The honest summary

Today this page is a statement of intent with nothing behind it but the standard we say we work to. That is a weaker thing to publish than a wall of five star quotes, and it is the true one. Everything above is what we would rather be judged on until the extraction reviews exist: the paperwork, the reachability of the whole system, and the willingness to put you on the phone to somebody we have already worked for.

Common questions

Why does this page not show a star rating?

Because there is nothing honest to average yet. A star rating in a search result is generated from review markup, and that markup is only allowed to describe reviews of the business it appears on. We have none for extraction work under this name, so the markup is absent rather than borrowed from elsewhere.

What should I look for in an extraction contractor review?

Detail that only a real customer would know: whether the plenum behind the filters was cleaned, whether before and after photographs arrived, whether the certificate listed the sections that could not be reached. Reviews that only say the engineer was polite tell you nothing about the duct run.

Can I speak to one of your customers before booking?

Ask, and we will put you in touch with a site of a similar size and layout where the customer has agreed to it. That is worth more than a page of five star ratings, and it is the request a contractor with nothing to show will talk you out of.

Will you ask me for a review after the job?

Once, in writing, after the paperwork has landed. We do not ask on site, we do not offer anything in return, and we do not ask again if you would rather not.
