Website Terms of Use
Last updated: 15 August 2026
These terms cover your use of this website. By reading it you accept them. They are short on purpose.
Who runs this site
This site is operated by Extractford Ventilation Ltd. Registration in England and Wales is in progress; the company number and registered address will be published here as soon as they are issued.
What these terms cover, and what they do not
They cover the website. They are not the contract for any work we carry out for you.
Quotations and works are governed by the written quotation we issue and the terms attached to it, not by this page. If anything on the site appears to conflict with your quotation, the quotation is what counts. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance, and no price, timescale or scope shown here forms part of any contract until it appears in a quotation signed off by both of us.
The information on this site
A good deal of this site is technical: what DW/172 asks of ductwork, how TR19 Grease measures cleanliness, why a gas interlock trips, what a fault on a fan usually means. It is published in good faith and we take care over it, including saying openly where sources disagree or where a widely repeated figure has no traceable origin.
Even so, it is general information. It is written about commercial kitchen extraction in general, not about your kitchen. Every system differs in its layout, its duct routing, its appliances, its fire compartmentation and its condition, and the only way to know what yours needs is for a competent person to survey it.
So: nothing on this site is a substitute for a site survey, and it is not professional design, engineering, fire safety or legal advice. Do not make a decision that affects the safety of a building on the strength of a web page, ours included. If a page and a surveyor disagree, believe the surveyor.
We give no warranty that the content is complete, current or free of error. Standards are revised, prices move, and pages can fall behind. Where we cite a document we say which edition and when we checked it, so you can verify it yourself. We may change or remove pages without notice. If a page you relied on has gone, ask us and we will tell you what replaced it.
Acceptable use
You may:
- read, print and share pages for your own or your organisation’s use
- quote a short extract, provided you say it came from this site and link to the page
You may not:
- copy substantial parts of the site to republish as your own content
- scrape the site to build a competing service or a lead list
- use the site or the contact details on it to send unsolicited marketing, recruitment or supplier approaches
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or any server behind it, or interfere with its operation
Intellectual property
The text, layout, design, logo and images on this site belong to Extractford Ventilation Ltd or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Reading the site gives you no rights in any of it beyond the permitted uses above.
Names of published specifications and of the organisations that publish them, including DW/172, TR19 and BESA, belong to their respective owners. They appear on this site to describe the standards our work follows and the documents we explain. Their appearance implies no endorsement of us by anyone, and no membership, accreditation or approval that is not stated elsewhere on the site in terms.
Links to other sites
We link out to primary sources: legislation, publishers, regulators and standards bodies. We do that so you can check what we have written rather than take our word for it.
Those sites are not ours. We do not control them, we are not responsible for their content or their availability, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the other side of it. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave, not ours.
You are welcome to link to this site from your own, provided the link is fair, does not suggest an association or approval that does not exist, and does not frame our pages inside your own.
Our liability
Some liability cannot be excluded by law and we do not attempt to exclude it. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from use of this site or reliance on anything published on it, including lost profit, lost business, lost contracts, business interruption, or loss of data. If you use the site in the course of a business, that exclusion applies in full.
If you are using the site as a consumer rather than for business purposes, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything on this page.
Liability for work we actually carry out is a different matter and is dealt with in the quotation and its terms, alongside our insurance position. It is not limited by this page.
Data and cookies
What we do with personal data is set out in the privacy policy. What the site stores on your device, currently nothing, is set out in the cookie policy.
If something is wrong
If you think a page is inaccurate, or you have a problem with anything we have done, tell us through the contact page. Our complaints procedure explains what happens after that.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The version that applies to you is the one published when you use the site, so the date at the top of this page is the one that matters.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law where you live.
